But Moreno, speaking from the bowels of a provincial UK venue, explains that he was having such bother narrowing down his own list for us that he had to set himself a special challenge: “It was pretty difficult, I gave myself a time limit so I couldn't overthink it, that would have taken forever.” He also insists that this is very much a personal selection, and not representative of Deftones as a whole: “If you asked anyone else in Deftones for this list you'd probably get 13 other records that were different to everyone else,” he says.
In fact, so catholic are the musical tastes of Moreno and his group there are probably some omissions here that you might find startling – no Cure, Depeche Mode, for instance.
